Converting EndNote-Formatted Word Document to Plain Text
If you need to share an EndNote-Formatted Word document with someone who does not have EndNote installed, converting it to plain text is essential. This process removes all EndNote field codes, ensuring that citations and references appear as regular text and are fully accessible on any device or software. Below are the steps to easily convert your document:
- Open the EndNote-Formatted Word document that you want to convert to plain text.
- Save a copy of the document to preserve the original with EndNote citations.
- In the Word document, go to the EndNote tab.
- Click on Convert Citations and Bibliography to open a dropdown menu.
- From the menu, select Convert to Plain Text.
- A prompt will appear; click Continue to confirm the conversion.
Your document will now be converted to plain text, with all EndNote formatting and citations removed.
