Guidelines During COVID-19 Pandemic

These guidelines will help the library patrons in issuing and returning of library material from IED, PDCs libraries during closure of libraries due to COVID-19 pandemic
1	The physical access of AKU libraries is closed during COVID-19 pandemic closure of the University.
2	During the lockdown in the country especially in Karachi, circulation service will not be offered.
3	All library services are available online, if you have any query contact via email.
4	Physical issuance of library materials is also not allowed, however in case of serious need, the library patrons have to get approval from the concerned faculty and request to library via email.
5	The requests should be emailed 3 days in advance as requested books will only be issued on the following Mondays from 10:00 am. To 12:00 noon. (only if there are at least 10 requests received)
6	Library Patrons will be informed by email to collect their requested material from the library. Patrons are further advised to search your required items on the online library catalog i.e. SAFARI and note the following holding information of the book: i. Title ii. Call No. iii. Barcode (Remember to mention aforementioned information in your email request)
7	Library staff will make available the requested book(s) at the library. Patrons will stay outside the library gate to collect their requested material.
8	Note that THESES/DISSERTATION will not be issued during this period.
9	Books and theses are issued from library before March 20, 2020, their due date have been extended till the mid of September 2020.
NOTE: ALL THE BOOKS ALREADY ISSUED OR ISSUE DURING THE PANDEMIC PERIOD WILL BE DUE ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2020.

Reference & Information Support

During COVID-19 closure, the physical access to the AKU - IED Library is not allowed. However, all the library online resources are available 24/7 through VPN. Online Reference Support is also available during normal official working hours.

The CO also assists in the clearance of all copyright materials for internal use or published by the University. Clearance permissions may be necessary if, materials to be distributed are course packs, instructional materials, materials for posting on e-learning platforms/ intranet, images, photocopying and digital reproduction.
