This guide aims to assist you in inIdentifying and accessing grey literature.

Producers of Grey Literature

Grey literature in the field of health information extends well beyond academic research and scientific reports. It includes a wide variety of materials produced by numerous sources. While universities and research institutions contribute to this body of work, grey literature is also generated by governmental health agencies, local health departments, and public health organizations.

In addition to these, international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the USA, the UK Department of Health, UNAIDS, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Global Health Centre, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) play a significant role in producing grey literature. In Pakistan, institutions like the National Institute of Health (NIH), the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, and various provincial health departments are also key contributors. They produce valuable documents such as reports, guidelines, policy briefs, white papers, presentations, and meeting minutes.

In summary, health-related grey literature is created by a wide array of organizations, both international and national, including those in Pakistan. This makes it a crucial resource for understanding health policies, practices, and issues on a global and local scale.
