Article Processing Charges (APC)
Article processing charges are charged to authors to publish an article in either a gold open access or hybrid open access journal. By paying the APC, the published article is made available to anyone with an internet connection. For gold OA journals, an APC is generally required for publication; for hybrid journals, the author may choose to pay an APC to make their article open access. Making an article as open access has its advantages including increasing the visibility of your work.
What is "open access"?
Open access means free, immediate and permanent access to academic publications. By publishing your research open access under an open licence, you enable readers to access, distribute and reuse the material freely. When research output is made available for free online, It helps spread research results both within the research community and outside it. Readers can access, read, use, copy, print and link to open access publications.
Gold Open Access is when the publisher makes the article available, either as a:
