The course provides an overview of the investigative process - from the time a story is conceived to the formulation of an investigative hypothesis to the actual reporting and writing. It focuses on the sourcing and investigation strategies used to produce accurate, relevant and impactful news and media content. It provides an overview of a range of traditional and contemporary investigation practices used by journalists to research stories and media productions, including a critical introduction to the traditions of interview, observation and data/archival research.
